Welcome! My name is Dee O'Keefe, and I live in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. I’m a former professional guitarist and teacher who is now designing knitting patterns full time. I am utterly enamored and obsessed with lace shawls. Once I knitted my first one, I just couldn’t stop. After a while, I decided to try my hand at designing them, and realized I loved doing that too. I set up my Ravelry shop in late 2011 and have been at it ever since.

I discovered that I also truly enjoyed the process of writing up the patterns, trying to make them as clear as possible while anticipating questions that users might have about how to knit the design. I feel that the process of knitting from a pattern should be uplifting and joyous, so the clearer the explanations, the easier that is to achieve. I hope you love knitting from my patterns and as well as the finished objects you create from them!

The inspiration for my designs often comes from places I've visited or lived that have special memories attached to them. I've named shawls after people who have been important to me over the years, be it friends, teachers or family. And since music has been such a huge part of my life, many of my designs have been inspired by my favorite composers, musicians or particular pieces of music that I've loved. I plan on adding a section to the site with links to all of this wonderful music in one place, so be on the lookout for that soon. In the meantime, links to my musical inspiration are included on the patterns themselves.
