Jimi is a top-down, triangular shawlette guaranteed to keep you warm and toasty on cold winter days. Starting with alternating garter stripes of two complimentary colors, Jimi ends with a stylish border of thicker stripes flanking a pretty mesh lace band.
Jimi was designed specifically as a project for beginner knitters who are looking to step up their skills. So if you can already knit and purl with ease, you can knit this pattern! With Jimi, you’ll learn how to: shape a triangular shawl with yarn over increases; use stitch markers; alternate skeins for 2-color, 2-row stripes; weave in yarn tails neatly in garter stitch; increase the size and work decreases paired with yarn overs to create mesh lace. And there is a bonus 3-page tutorial section after the instructions with links to great videos showing how to work stitches that may be unfamiliar, a photo-tutorial showing how to alternate skeins while carrying yarn up the side, and detailed blocking information and photos.

Jimi is shown worked in two different colors of worsted weight yarn, but may be worked in any weight you like. Try using a variegated or self striping yarn with a coordinating solid yarn for a completely different look. No matter what weight yarn is used, the size may be easily customized and made much larger for a super warm shawl that can be used in place of a jacket on cool days.

GAUGE
3.5 stitches = 1” (2.5 cm) garter stitch, blocked. Note that gauge is not critical but will affect the finished size and yardage requirements.
