Teresa Rose is a richly textured, top-down triangular lace shawl featuring a modern, geometric pattern of twisted stitches and a dramatic scalloped border. The shawl starts with a provisional cast on at the center back of the neck. The lace edge, which adds a decorative touch at the top of the wingspan, is worked simultaneously with the body. The entire shawl is worked in one piece down to the scalloped border, and then the lace edge is grafted together at the top of the neck. Detailed instructions about exactly how the grafting process works are included if you’ve never used this technique before.
The size is very easy to customize either by changing the number of main body repeats worked. Note that the aqua-colored shawl pictured is worked at the pattern size. The salmon colored shawl is worked at a smaller, one-skein kerchief size.
This shawl is dedicated to my fabulous mother, Teresa Rose Stubits. Although not a knitter herself, she is fascinated by lace just like her daughter. She has always encouraged my artistic pursuits, for which I am forever grateful. As she approaches her ninth decade, I am so proud of how she never stops challenging herself to learn and enjoy new things. Mom, this one’s for you!

4 stitch markers, 1 locking stitch marker or small stitch holder, blocking supplies, tapestry needle to weave in ends, waste yarn for provisional cast on
GAUGE
5.0 sts = 1” (2.5 cm) stockinette stitch, blocked. Note that gauge is not critical but will affect the finished size and yardage requirements.
